EBay Didn’t Want You. Now, Google Doesn’t Want You.
Google sent out an email to Google Adwords customers saying that they are going to pull all Google Shopping results for guns, ammunition, gun optics and gun accessories (Shopping results, not general search results).
Much more at the link including the email Google sent.
You know, PayPal - now owned by eBay, is the same. So - you ask - why do I use it? Because I’ve been a member of it for 12 years (long before eBay bought it) and I joined it way back when I had credit cards. I don’t have credit cards now. That prevents me from joining any of the other internet donation providers. I’m ‘grandfathered in’ to PayPal and that is how I can still receive your kind donations (*hint*) but without a fallback donation service, it’s all I have. So, I use it and it helps me survive.
This Google ban is worse. You can’t even advertise your firearm products with them anymore. Political correctness run amok with the largest search engine on the web.
Out of reflex, I use Google all the time to search for stuff to post here on Alphecca. Do any of you have suggestions for an alternate?

www.bing.com
I don’t know bout no shopping (I’m not much of a shopper). It gives as good search results as google, from my experience.

Much as I hate Microsoft, Bing ain’t bad. And if Bing and Amazon can’t find it, it’s not out there. Google and eBay are evil.

Oddly enough, eBay has reversed almost all of their firearms parts and accessories restrictions.

Let me second Ron’s suggestion of duckduckgo.com. I’ve been using it for months, and there seem to be fewer monkeyshines with the results.

I have Spanish, Iclelandic and Norwegian speaking friends so I kept Bing translator, it works well and quickly, but for general search, its Duck Duck Go. If I find another translator, Bing hits the bin.

Google *Shopping* is going commercial - ie, it’s going to be Google’s Own Paid Marketplace, where merchants pay them for access.
That’s the reason for the change (at last indirectly) - and I suspect it relates to Google being incorporated in California and stupid CA laws as much as politics.
From what it looks like, Google AdWords will still work with gun-related stuff, just not in the Google Shopping, for the above reason(s).
(And of course, the Other Search Engines won’t give you AdWords revenue, will they?
Using Bing, say, is a great idea if you’re *doing* the shopping and want to use a search engine’s Shopping subset for that…)

I use Startpage, among other reasons, they don’t record your IP address.

I agree that DuckDuckGo.com is a good choice.

Jeff, I have nothing to offer on the search alternatives, but instead of PayPal you might look into Dwolla. No credit card required, just a bank account if you want to take money out of your Dwolla account.
The fees are small (nothing for transactions under $10 and 25 cents otherwise I think) Another cool thing is that people sending money can cover the transaction fee instead of making you eat it.
Best of all we wouldn’t be supporting an evil empire, (at least until Dwolla gets big enough to turn evil like the rest.)
Get it set up and let me know and I’ll be your first donation.
